Springy Things

Directions: From Route # 2 Heading East Pass by the Casino. Following course, take your 2nd Right to Wintechog hill Rd. soon, within a few hundred yards see a very used parking area on your right with probably other cars already parked,.. specially weekends. (Popular Spot) The bottom of Lantern hill trails.
Coming from the West, if you come to the Casino, you just missed your "LEFT" onto Wintechog Rd.

Box # 1
Sring your way up the main trail at the main entrance of Lantern Hill Parking area off of Wintechog Rd. in Ledyard/N. Stonington. Go up the incline at the beginning and it will "Forgivingly" level off to a nice flattened & well trodded path. Along this flatter part of trail you will come to a "Kettle Hole" on your Right with a pond in it's hollow. The Path just before it going Right (west) - Approx 60 paces to a dead downed tree. find your prize in it's Roots.

Box # 2
Go back out to that main trail, go right, and soon you'll come to a "Y" with a choice to go left uphill or along the "Flat Route". Stay Right on the flat route. You'll be going over some "Rocky" terrain" and soon looking left at the scenery,..see a series of three boulders having little caves at their base. The Middle "Knife" Rock that protrudes out at you has your prize in his cave.

Box # 3
After Stamping in,.. get back on trail,..and continue on. You will be seeing a series of Serious Ledges on your Left. Just before you come to the next "Rocky Scramble" in the path, There is a small patch of Laurel. Your treasure is under a cave where a Pine tree is next to a boulder on your Left.

Box # 4
Continuing in a Southerly direction,.. Go through what appears to be a major "Rock Slide" (It's Like a Major rocky path) 10 or so steps after the "Rocky" part you should see a boulder on the left again.
In this rocks cave,... behind a white "Shark Tooth" shaped rock is your prize.

Box # 5
Continuing on this trail, you'll be passing some "WhiteFaced" Ledges and a great view of "Lantern Hill" Pond on your Right. You will shortly come to a "Y" in the trail,... Stay straight and go down & up through some Laurel to a very "WHITE" sandy, gravely area. (BE CAREFUL HERE,.. The clift on your left is quite a drop!!!) When you get to this "VERY White" area,. Go around a boulder to your right, with 2 pines just behind it. Under a Trap door & some pine needles just behind tree #1.

Box # 6
Leaving "White Zone" go back the way you came in to the "Y" and bear Right staying with the Blue Blazes. Head up through a vein of rocky ledge to a "T". Bear Right through some Laurels, Approximately 25 Paces to a "T" staying on the Blue Blazes. Go LEFT to a 4 way Red oak whose middle two are dead,.. and you will find what you're looking for in this tree's "Palm"
PLEASE seal boxes tightly & rehide for others to enjoy.
Thanks,
The Compass Cuties
