JUST DANDY
Directions: From Route # 2 Heading East Pass by the Casino. Following course, take your 2nd Right to Wintechog hill Rd. soon, within a few hundred yards see a very used parking area on your right with probably other cars already parked,.. specially weekends. (Popular Spot) The bottom of Lantern hill trails.
Coming from the West, if you come to the Casino, you just missed your "LEFT" onto Wintechog Rd.
Head up the steep incline & the path levels off to a nice "Breather" of a walk. You will come to a kettlehole with a small pond in it,.. Now you have a choice here at a "Y". You may choose the steep incline on the Left or straight forward on a "Rock Slidy gentler path" EITHER WAY,... You must make it to the Top of,...
Lantern Hill.
Once at the Top stretch out & have that snack & a breather. Orient yourself with the Top. On the West side of the Mountain and you'll be treking down some cascading White ledges ever gently left,.. to a very Flat Plateau that over looks the MIDDLE of the "Lantern Hill Pond" below. You know you have the right spot because two 12' Pitch Pines at the edge say -"Go NO Further". Take a bearing of 40 degrees at these Pines to a very distinct bushy dwarfted Pitch Pine and in its Middle,.. under needles & a rock is your prize.
PLEASE be discreet and hide well & natural,.. The Younger crowd uses this place also. You'll know why when you find it. Write Me & I'll tell you a small but special story about this spot.
