LIFE IS A 3 RING CIRCUS
#3 – RING 1, TRAINED DOGS

DIRECTIONS:
Begin in Brooklyn Center at the intersection of Route 6 and Route 169. Take Rte 169 South for about 1 tenth of a mile. When Rte 169 bears right, you continue straight on Route 205 for only a few hundred feet. Then go left at the sign for Creamery Brook Retirement Village.
Follow the paved road past the picturesque water fall on the left, up the hill, curving to the left you will arrive at the retirement complex. You can follow the circular drive in front of the building, or you can drive all the way behind the buildings.
When you are headed back out you will see a walking path on your right, which goes back out to Route 205. There is room to park there at the end of the guard-rail type fencing, and you will see the path continues on your left. You will follow that section of the trail, walking along the side of the building.

As you stroll along this straight lane you can almost picture a horse-drawn carriage passing between the two rows of evenly spaced maples, and wonder what estate or homestead it originally led to, and who planted the trees in the first place. When you reach the end of the smooth gray surface continue straight on the trail, up the hill, gradually curving to the right. In a short time you will pass a “blonde” looking tree trunk on the right, which has lost most of its bark. Then a fork on the left angles back, but you continue straight. Look for a “3 sisters” type tree on your right (2 medium trunks and a 3rd skinnier, smoother bark) and then a “twin” tree also on the right. Look between the three and the two, and about 50 feet off the trail you will see a fallen trunk that resembles a serpent (or the Loch Ness Monster.) Behind this “snake” you will find 2 metal barrel staves and an old, crushed pail. The object of your search is in the pail.
Continuing on these trails would eventually bring you out behind the Brooklyn Elementary School, but you return to your car by retracing your steps.
