How to get to Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church,
Lacey Spring, VA from I-81

Take I-81 North to exit 251. Take a right off the ramp onto Rt. 11 North. Head towards Lacey Spring, approximately 4.4 miles. Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church is on your left. Go up the driveway and park in the Visitor Parking.

How to find the box

1. Walk straight across the parking lot to the sidewalk. Once on the sidewalk, take about 5 to 7 steps forward and look to your right. You should see a grey foundation stone near the bottom of the wall. The stone states the establishment date of the Church. The Church was built in 1966. In 1963 the Herwin Chapel and Lacey Spring Church, both Evangelical United Brethren Churches, merged. After the merger, they later joined the Evangelical United Brethren joined with the Methodist denomination and Mt. Tabor became the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.

2. Continue walking until the end of the sidewalk. As you’re walking look at the stained glass windows. These windows came from the old Lacey Spring Evangelical United Brethren Church.

3. Cross the parking lot to the other sidewalk. There should be a building to your right and a house to your left. This building is the Family Life Center. We hold lots of different events there. It was built in 1990 when George Pearson was the preacher. The house to your left is the parsonage where the preacher usually lives. It was built in 1967. The parsonage is now being rented.

4. Go to the end of the sidewalk. You should see a picnic shelter straight in front of you. Walk to the picnic shelter. It was built in 1990 along with the Family Life Center.

5. Now walk to the playground. Look at the little yellow storage building that should be straight in front of you.

6. Walk to the yellow storage building. There used to be a two-story white house where this building now stands. It was called Chapman Hall, named after the family that used to live there a long time ago. It was torn down just a couple years ago.

7. Go behind the storage building and walk toward the middle of it. Now look under the building and there should be the box!!

8. Feel free to let your kids play on the playground before you leave.
