We preface this clue by saying always watch out for poison ivy and remember to check yourself and those with you for any stinkin', pesky ticks. We want you to remember our box for the good time that you had finding it, not for that time you got itchy, scratchy, contagious and contracted Lyme Disease. No box is worth that.
**************************************************
Farmington River Trail
Parking lot on Route 4/Collinsville Road, closest to Unionville on the east side.
(From Unionville/Farmington it is on the right side just past River Road)
(From Burlington/Canton it is on the left side just before River Road)
**************************************************
Enter the trail northwest (if you parked facing the trail this will be to your left).
Paved path immediately changes to dirt and rock.
See large painted rocks and EMERGENCY AND AUTHORIZED VEHICLES ONLY.
Cross over paved drive with a house to your right.
Next four-way path intersection choose hard right.
Cross two-log bridge, cross one-log bridge.
Only two ways to go - left or right? Right.
Come to a "Y" - high or low? High.
A bit of a rollercoaster path, then you'll see a fallen tree that makes a nice natural gate.
Continue on to another four-way path intersection. Hard right.
Within 50 steps look for sister Birch trees on your right.
Now walk toward the river, keeping those sister Birch trees to the left of you on past and to the river's edge.
*******************************************************
Now stop, facing the river, breathe deep and take it in. Doesn't matter how long you've lived here or how many times you've seen the same thing, the Farmington River is peaceful and a wonderful reminder of how beautiful and calming nature can be.
*******************************************************
Turn to your right.
Walk on the stones along the edge and find a fallen log that connects two standing trees (the picture included with this listing ~ on atlasquest.com)
Watch out for prickly branches for sure.
Facing the fallen log, underneath on the right hand side is what you're looking for.
*******************************************************
Re-hide well, using some stones on and around to secure in place. Retrace your path back to where you arrived. Hope you enjoyed the trip and the box! Happy stamping!
