Don’t Leaf Me Here! A Storm Is Coming!

Directions:

Make your way to the Old North Burying Ground on Jackson Hill Road in Middlefield, CT. Park you car in the dirt pull-off.

Clues:

Enter through the white gate and note you are standing in a tiny valley that divides the cemetery into what appears to be two different periods of time. Make your way to the right and up the hill through the brownstones. About halfway down and five rows back (the rows are not really rows) you’ll find the grave of Seth Birdsey who died at the age of 33, “death by fall of tree.”

(At the time of this writing, a tree has actually fallen into the cemetery, broken the fence and landed among other Birdsey graves).

Take a reading of 220 at Seth’s grave and walk down the slope and over to the grave of Corp Timothy Lown. Behind the stone wall and in front of a tree are two kissing rocks, low to the ground. Tucked beneath them is what you seek.

Note: The box is not in the stone wall and no stones from the wall need to be moved.
