Stop in and visit some history at old Fort Ligonier then proceed north on Rte. 711 for several miles to the Sheetz. There you will go right on Rte. 271 towards Johnstown for 8.4 miles. There will be a large sign for Laurel State Park on the left and a sign that says Trailhead Parking. park there and get on one of the access trails (blue blaze markings) and go south to the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail (LHHT). Make a left and continue south on the LHHT (yellow blaze markings). About 3/4 mile along the trail you will come to a rock formation that the LHHT winds through. Go almost all the way through the formation and there is a set of steps between the rocks. Make a left from the top step and you will see a large oak tree. To the left of the tree (parallel to the trail you just came up) and about 6 feet from the base are several large rocks. What you are looking for is under one of the rocks and covered by several small stones. This is a moderate walk and will take 45 - 50 minutes at a leisurely stroll. For "hikers" it will be about 1 and 1/2 to 1 and 3/4 mile from the parking lot.

Happy Letterboxing.
