The "L/C - Sgt Floyd" letterbox was placed in Lewis and Clark State Park in Iowa. Sgt Floyd died just up river from this park (visit the floyd monument in Sioux City). The park has a full scale replicat of Lewis and Clark's Keelboat, as well as interpretive signs.
From I-29, exit 112. Go west on Hwy 175 to the park enterence on the right (few miles). Enter the park and drive to the Keelboat display.
To the Letterbox:
From the keelboat, climb up the viewing platform. Look northwest at 300 degrees and locate the trail kiosk about 100 yards away (will be across road, but was under construction when we visited). Now climb down and walk to the kiosk. Grab a brochure, and start out on the "Early Explorer Nature Trail". Follow the path until you reach the #7 post on your left, at the top of a hill. Walk around that tree to the back side (about 8 paces from trail). The box is at the base, near the end of a dead log, with leaves and a stack of sticks covering it.
Now continue on the trail to Silver Eagle's box.
