This box is the 2nd placed in my Alaska series. An ulu is a "knife" used by Inuit and other Native Alaskans. It's so versatile that it can be used to fillet fish, carve the flesh from a skin, or cut babies hair. Anyway, the place where ulu is, has nothing to do with the previous info. Furnace Hollow Road (or the Slaughterhouse road as known to the locals) runs perpendicular to Stafford St. and route 19 (East St.) Heading east on Furnace Hollow, on the left side is a very old cemetery established in 1724. The Old Stafford Street Cemetery has some beautiful examples of lunettes. Park your vehicle just off the road up against the gate. Walk around the gate, follow the stone wall on the right to a ginormous tree that leans over the wall. Stop, face the tree, look approximately 3 feet to the left. Right on top of the wall is a rectangular 24"X16" flat rock. Lean over the wall at this point, reach and find ulu. Take a gander around, very interesting history.
