6/10/09 - Someone destroyed this box and spread it's contents all over the ground. They took the book, stamp and ink pad. The box will not be replaced in this specific location.

This hunt takes place at New Britain’s Walnut Hill Park World War I memorial.

At the intersection of West Main Street and Park Place look across the street for a large building with columns with a large banner which reads “Calvary Christian Center… A church for people like you.”

Calvary Christian Center purchased the Temple Bnaί Israel in September 2007 and after much remodeling is celebrating its open house and dedication ceremony on May 3, 2009. This stamp is placed in honor of this momentous occasion. Look inside the letterbox logbook and visit www.calvaryCT.com for more information about this church.

At the intersection, turn onto Park Place and continue to the stop sign. At this point you are in Walnut Hill Park. Take a left and then an immediate right leading towards the top of the hill keeping a small building on your right. Continue to a stop sign and take a left onto Grand Street. This is right near The Hospital of Central Connecticut. At the next stop sign take a left onto Walnut Hill Road. Within 200 feet, take a right onto the World War 1 monument road. Make your way to the parking lot.

Leaving your car, walk to the large grassy area with a fountain. Follow any sidewalk you choose and head to the extremely large monument. You can’t miss it! Stop to reflect on the individuals who died in the first world war to whom the city of New Britain erected this monument.

Continue through the monument area and start to go down the stairs. Make sure that no one is around. This can be a very busy area! PLEASE BE DISCRETE!!! At the first landing, turn right and casually sit on the nearby large cement block with a metal door on top. Look to your right under the edge of the monument’s water trough. There will be a bunch of cement pieces and rocks covering the box. You might want to take the box to another area to stamp in. Please re-hide better than you found it!

If you have time, the New Britain Museum of Art is located on Lexington Street near the lower park circumference road. The New Britain Youth Museum is located nearby, also.

Hope you had fun learning about Calvary Christian Center and enjoyed this beautiful park!

Good Luck!
