Directions: Lake Shenandoah lies a few miles east of Harrisonburg in Rockingham County. To get to the lake, take Rt. 33 east out of Harrisonburg, then go south on Rt. 687 to the lake. Park on the left in the gravel parking lot.

Kids Clues

1) Standing in the parking lot hop down the path to the right of the forest.

Fact: Lake Shenandoah is 36-acres.

2) Count how many ducks and geese you see.

3) Stop hopping and walk down the path so you don’t fall in the water.

Fact: The maximum depth of the lake is 25 feet. It is near the dam.

4) Keep walking or hop until you get to the clearing and then go to the left of the trail.

5) You will see a cedar tree go until you reach it then touch it see what it feels like.

Fact: Most of the lake is under 3 feet deep.

6) Go to the path on the left at the pine tree.

7) Walk up to the fence and face it. Look at all the birds.

Fact: There are 5 species of fish in the lake.

8) Look in the bushes behind you, and you’ll find the letterbox.














Adult Clues

1) Facing the Lake turn left towards the woods

Fact: Lake Shenandoah is on a 36-acre impoundment

2) Take the path to the right through the woods

3) Walk around the lake until you reach the clearing on the other side of the woods

Fact: The maximum depth of the lake is 25 feet. It is near the dam

4) Walk until you see the cedar tree on the left

5) Go left at the fork at the Cedar tree

Fact: Most of the lake is under 3 feet

6) Stop at the fence

7) Face the corner of the fence and turn 180 degrees right facing the left side of the path

Fact: There are 5 species of fish in the lake

8) Check in the bushes
