ADULT CLUES:

1. Start your journey at Grandle’s Glen View Market. You will be able to park your car in the parking lot. Face the sign with the Pepsi logo on it, with your back to the intersection of Singers Glen Road and Kieffer Road.

2. Turn 180 degrees either way and you will be facing the yellow building which is the post office. Head toward the flagpole and continue up the sidewalk until you come to the first brick wall.

3. Follow the wall and take a break and sit on the steps with the lampposts.

4. Proceed up the sidewalk; to know you are going the right way look for sources of light on two brick pillars.

5. Now, look for a white, religious building. There cross the road and follow the white board fence. If you have come to the right location then you will find yourself in front of the Joseph Funk Memorial. Joseph Funk brought the name “Birthplace of Gospel Music” to Singers Glen. He published the famous Harmonia Sacra (choral music).

6. Go back to the sidewalk and travel on. Your journey is about ½ way complete. Your next clue is to look for a fish on a pole.

7. When you locate the fish, face it (with mouth in front of you) and turn 180 degrees and walk up the grassy bank toward the Singers Glen School.

8. This school was Singers Glen’s first schoolhouse which at one time, was a one-room building

9. Advance up the walkway toward the school and turn to the left. Circle to the back of the school where you will find a covered, shady place to eat

10. When you find the next siting, wander through the tables and head toward the white building with a red trim; this is the Singers Glen Volunteer Fire Dept. The fire department was established January 1,1994. It was built because of the narrow roads in Singers Glen, and the emergency vehicles were often slowed to the response of people.
The fire dept. at first didn’t have the money to buy engines so they had to borrowed $4500.00

11. Make way in the general direction of the building; you will be looking for a wooden, octagonal structure with a roof. Your journey is complete. You’ve found our letterbox!

KIDS CLUES:

1. Your quest begins at Grandles Glen View Market. Before you start, stop and get yourself a nice Coke to enjoy on the way.

2. Start skipping up the road towards the post office: remember to stop and look both ways before crossing the road. Face the flag and say the Pledge of Allegiance.

3. Continue on your way counting the sidewalk spaces until you reach the red brick wall; venture up the sidewalk until you reach Donovan Memorial Church.

4. Stop and rest on the stairs with the lampposts.

5. Once rested, power walk around the church while counting crosses on the building.

6. On the other side of church, swing on the playground, then go down the slide. Go out the gate and head back to the sidewalk.

7. Take giant steps up the hill until you reach the brick wall. Balance yourself on the top of the wall at then hop back down.

8. Continue on your way until you reach the fence with the white X’s. Count the X’s as you walk. At the end of the fence, stop look both ways and cross the road. This is Joseph Funk. He brought the name “Birthplace of Gospel Music” to Singers Glen and wrote the Harmonial Sacra choral book. Once finished, look both ways and cross the road again.

9. This is the halfway point. Continue hopping up the hill until you reach the rescue squad sign. Spin around three times, then face the school.

10. Sprint up the bank till you reach the doors, turn to the left and cruise around the building. Rest and take a snack in the picnic shelter. When your’re done, face the building with the purple roof.

11. Walk in that direction toward the big tree between the Singers Glen School House and the Volunteer Fire Department. The letterbox location is in sight. Look for the wooden octagon structure with wooden roof. Hints: Think about making a wish. Look inside, there is your letterbox!
