From Interstate 81
Take exit 264 (New Market) . Go West on Rt. 211. Go approx. 5 miles to the stoplight in Timberville and turn left (Rt 42/Main Street converts into Timber Way). Go approx. 1 1/2 miles and turn right onto Lee Street at the stoplight at the Ford Motor Co. Go to the next light and turn left onto Rt. 42 (Main Street, Broadway). Continue on Rt. 42 through Broadway and travel 3 miles. The Lincoln Homestead/Cemetery is on the left (lime colored house).


Kid Clues
1) Start at the Pilgrim's Pride sign and go up to the hill to the porch and you should notice the front door.

:) See if you can count how many steps to the front door. (:

Quick fact- The front door of the house was restored by the Bowman’s.

2) Come down the steps of the porch. You should go the right of the house. You will see some windows and a door. These features are part of the new house.

Quick fact- The rear extension was added in 1842 by Johns son Abraham.

3) Keep going around the house; you then will see a back porch with a water pump that says GEM.

4) From the pump there will be two windows and a door. If you look in a window, you will see a stove.

Quick Fact- This stove is part of the original structure of the house.

5) Come off the porch and go to the right down the hill you should end up on a gravel road up ahead you should see a barn, go to it.

6) Once you get to the barn, keep going straigh. After the house you should see a pond.

7) Turn around and go back to where you started by the Pilgrim's Pride sign. You should see a old road about 3 huge steps northeast of the sign. There will be a old road.

8) Once you start to going up the road you will notice another sign that says “Lincoln Virginia Ancestors”. Go up and read all the facts.

9) Start skipping and then start galloping until you come by some trees. It will have a hill and a tree that has fallen down.

:) See you who can make it up the hill the fastest. (:

10) Up ahead you will see a tree and grave yard. Go to them.

:) If it is the spring time, feel free to pick some of the flowers. (:

11) When you reach the grave yard open the gate and go in. You should look at the old graves.

12) Go to the back, left corner. You will see a grave of Virginia John.

Quick fact: The owner of the house was called Virginia John.

:) If you have a piece of paper and a pencil you can etch on one of the graves. (:

13) Behind Virginia John’s grave you will see a fence and a tree. If you look down, you will see some rocks. under the rock you will see our letterbox!

Interesting Quick Fact- John Lincoln was the third child and eldest son of John Lincoln Jr. After the Yankees burnt his barn he expressed a keen desire to shoot his cousin Abe, the President.

5. Come off the porch and go to the right down the hill. You should end up on the gravel road; you will see a big barn.

6. Once you get to the barn, keep going straight and look to your right; there will be a pond.

7. Turn around and go back to where you stared at the Pilgrim’s Pride sign; you’ll see an old road up ahead of the sign. Once you start going up the road, you’ll see another sign that says “Lincoln Virginia Ancestors;” go and read it.

8. Keep walking up the road; you should see some trees, then there will be a break in them. Go up the hill.

9. You should see a tree and a graveyard. When you get to the graveyard go around to the gate.

10. You will see many graves. Go in the graveyard and look around. When you’re done looking go to the back left corner. There will be a grave that says Virginia John Lincoln.
Fact: The owner of the house was John Lincoln was called Virginia John.

11. You then will see a tree; by the bottom of the tree you will see some stones and branches. Under the stone is our letterbox!
