Many years ago I spent an afternoon playing with my eldest granddaughter (then 2 1/2) We did many things with dandelions. A few days later she became hysterical when her mother started mowing the lawn full of dandelions. "Don't hurt the dandelion!" she cried, "It's not weed, Mom, I promise!" Thus ---the name for this group of very Kid friendly boxes. ENJOY!

The Stem
The general purpose of a stem is to support the flower. A Dandelion stem is unusual in that it is hollow like a straw. Some other flowering plants also have hollow stems. The reason for this is not known, but it may be a sort of conservation. Hollow stems require less energy to manufacture and weigh about 25% less than a regular stems yet they are is still strong. Once the seeds have been dispersed, the dandelion stem shrivels and dies so the plant does to have to supply food to a no-longer-useful part. SMART!

Clue
Holdaway park is actually just one house past 500 east & 400 North. It is on the south side of the road and easy to miss. Good place for the kids to play or to have a picnic. Just park and you are ready to go.

Find the Barrier that changes from brick & Lumber to wire & lumber, to Vinyl, to lumber again, back to vinyl and finally to Lumber that ends up bisecting with wire at right angles. Go to the point where the last set of vinyl and lumber meet.

Take 16 steps in the direction of a rising sun. Turn to the south and continue until you can see two grey tree branches twisted around one another. You will find the box at the south base of this tree.

Note: Sadley this is about as lame a stamp as you will every find. Don't worry, it will get better.
In fact: this stamp put together with 5 of the stamps to follow will make one big stamp. (SO, you may want to bring along a larger piece so you can make the whole picture.. Kids might really like this idea.)
