In March of 2009, residents of Northborough celebrated the grand reopening of the newly renovated and expanded Northborough Free Public Library. In 1894, Cyrus Gale and his son Cyrus Gale Jr. donated the land and money to build the granite structure. It cost $30,000 and was dedicated on June 12, 1895. We dedicate this stamp in honor of their memory. The original building still stands today with the expansion and renovation attached to its backside. This original part of the building remains the oldest building in town still serving in its original capacity. As many residents in town, we are thrilled and feel fortunate to have such a wonderful place to spend time. We extend our gratitude to those who worked so hard to make it happen. This stamp is dedicated to you. If it was not for the library we would never have learned about letterboxing. Thank you Zess, Harmony and Camelgal! We dedicate this stamp to you too! For those of you who are not residents, we welcome you. Do go in and take a look, check out the old historical part of the building, read a book and relax from your letterboxing. Say hello to our wonderful librarians. We dedicate this stamp to them as well.

You will be searching for a stamp (yep, you guessed it) dedicated to a great children’s author and illustrator. If you have kids, this name will be no stranger to you. March 2009 was the 40th anniversary of Eric Carle’s book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. A few years ago we had the great fortune to meet Eric Carle, get our books signed and he even drew a picture for daughter #3 in her book The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Some day you too may want to go to his museum in Amherst, MA to see his amazing illustrations and experience other fun activities. Perhaps you will get to meet him like we did. Check out the website first: http://www.picturebookart.org

Stamp location and clues:
We recommend you bring your own markers or stamps. We will have one color stamp available but you may want to use many colors if you are inspired by the creativity of Eric Carle.

The Library is located on 34 Main St. Northborough, MA 01532 For hours and directions you may want to visit the library’s website: http://www.northboroughlibrary.org/northborough

When you enter the library, head straight past the circulation desk on your right is the beautiful children’s room. You may see the children's room librarians at the circulation desk on the left. They are the best! We dedicate this stamp to them too. For years they have so kindly helped us and provided us with so many children’s room activities and guidance. They always greet us with a smile and engage in friendly chit chat with the kids.

Standing by the kids room circulation desk, straight ahead is a small flight of stairs (or a wheel chair accessible ramp to the left of the stairs). Go to this next level. It is on this level that you will find “A Dedication”. Since this is a rather simple letterbox that is all you will get for clues. Have fun and remember to be discreet. It is a very busy library with lots of muggles. Please take care to put everything back the way it was found and without getting caught. However, if someone does catch you and wonders what you are up to, please refer them to the children’s room circulation desk. The librarians will have information on letterboxing to satisfy their curious mind.

Thanks for seeking out our box! We hope you had fun and look forward to hearing from you after your find.
