Take route 30 north out of Manchester Village to Dorset. On your right 4-5 miles, will be the Oldest QUarry in the United States. In 1785, Issac Underhill opened this quarry. Dorset quarries were the most active in the early 1800's. Small slabs were used for hearths, doorsills, and headstones. With better transportation and saws larger blocks were quarried. This is a heavy traffic area. It is an active swimming hole in the summer months. Bring your suits.

To the Letterbox: Pass by the stacked piles of marble blocks. The letterbox will be on the left side as your approach the swimming area. Two trails lead around the swimming hole. You need to take the first trail (woodsy). The second trail follows the water's edge. THe first trail is marked by a white barked tree. (cottonwood) You will see a triangle shaped-with a large white band slab of marble. A smaller gray slab with 3-4 gauges running through it, sits on top of the rock. A small honeysuckle bush sits at the base where the box is hidden in a crevice hidden with natural debris. Use Stealth.

Great place to swim and look at the old carvings in the stones and the crazy daredevils that jump from the high 40 foot stones. Piles and piles stacked stones everywhere. Very cool spot.
