Hike length: 0.1 mile, slightly uphill.

Traveling on I-90 between Bozeman and Billings can be a long, boring, yet beautiful drive, but it's not as dangerous as it once was.

Heading East (sorry Westbounders) from Bozeman on I-90, keep an eye open for the Greycliff Prairie Dog Town. As interesting as it may be, you don't need to stop there for this box. Keep going past it (or stop, see it, and get back on the freeway) for about 3 miles to the rest stop.

From the parking lot, stand at the bottom of the sidewalk leading up to the restrooms. Turn to your right and walk toward the sign called "The Bozeman Trail" and read about some travelers less fortunate than you.

From the sign, continue to the right to the first sidewalk on the left (or the second; they merge in 20 feet or so). Walk up the sidewalk to the Y. From here you have a choice to make: do you want the letterbox more than you want to visit the restroom? If you choose the letterbox, go to (A). If you choose the restroom, go to (C).

(A) Take the right fork at the Y and walk up the hill, passing the picnic table pavilion on your left. When you come to the next Y, go to the right (toward the table). Go to (B).

(B) Continue to walk past the table about 5 or 6 steps and turn to your left. There are a couple big trees there. Look behind the one closest to the table. The letterbox is buried under some rocks, sticks, and pine needles just behind the trunk of the tree.

(C) (This really is an easy letterbox to find; I just wanted to do the clue in a "Choose your own adventure" format.) Head up the left fork to the restroom. When you've completed your visit, look out toward the parking lot, down the hill. Turn left and walk around the corner of the restroom and follow that sidewalk up the hill and follow it as it curves to the right. At the next Y, go to the left (toward the table). Go to (B).

Be sure to hide the letterbox very well. There's a Geocache in the trees to the northwest (we stumbled upon it looking for a good place to plant our letterbox).

There's also another letterbox at this rest stop that we didn't notice until we returned from our trip. Be sure to find it, too.
