This is our first traditional plant. I wrote the clues especially for my two favorite little letterboxers, Matthew and James. Although the preface to the clues is geared toward children, I'm certain all you adults will have fun too. Look inside the front cover of each logbook to find a little inspirational note for the kids. I'm also new at carving, so go easy on me.
Please note: There is no ink in any of the boxes. Be sure to bring your own. And please rehide better than the way it was found.

It seems The Pink One is up to his old tricks again. The Clueless Inspector was hot on his trail, until he got himself lost in the woods. Now he needs your help. Your mission is to find the inspector and get him back on the right track, so he can find the Pink One and recover the missing loot. Have fun out there!!

Now on to the clues:
A Very Pink Expedition is located in the Swan Preserve in Canton, CT. Take Rte. 179 North to Case St. Turn right onto Case. The parking area entrance is about .10 mile up on the right. ( 25 Case St. ). You can print a trail map on the Canton Land Trust website.(Recommended)

On the right hand side of the parking area is the entrance to the Swan Preserve. Follow the yellow blazes down to Sawmill Brook and on to the newly built bridge. This area is very rocky, so watch your step.

Once you reach the bridge, cross and continue on to your left. This is the Brook Trail. Follow yellow blazes until you come to the troop 77 bench. Take a seat on the bench and look over your right shoulder to a moss covered rock. You will find "The Clueless Inspector" hiding here.

Now head back the way you came to the bridge. Follow the yellow blazed trail on the other side of the bridge. This is the Witch Hazel Trail. Keep going until you come to a Y. You will see marker #5 here. Go right onto the Cliff Trail. You need to follow the round yellow tree markers for this trail. Follow the trail going uphill. You will come to a rock on the trail with a tree growing out of it. Shortly after this, start looking on your right for a very large oak with fallen logs in front it. Look behind the tree to get "Back on the right track".

Continue on uphill following the yellow tree markers. As we traveled on through this trail, we found that it was not as defined as we are normally used to. It was to our benefit to look for the blue tape markers when we didn't immediately see yellow. Just a heads up. Also be aware that as you travel farther uphill, you will come to a level area which might make you think that you've reached the top. There is a small tree here with a hole in it's base. Looking right, you will see the yellow discs going once again uphill. Go to the right on the Cliff trail, following these tree markers. Soon you will come to a swampy area where you need to cross the water by walking over two logs. Keep going and you should see the cliffs on your left. Keep following yellow until you come to a huge area of mountain laurel. Continue on straight through the mountain laurel, and on the left you can pick up another yellow blazed trail. This is part of the Upland trail.

Almost immediately, you will see a grouping of large rocks on your left. The front rock is moss covered and there is a pair of large oaks to the right of the rocks. Climb to the top and look for a pointed rock with quartz and moss. Look below for "The Pink One".

Continue on yellow. Soon you will see a huge fallen tree on the right with one evergreen tree in front of it. Go to the root end of the fallen tree and on the back side you will find "The Missing Loot".

Continue on yellow back to the #5 marker and then straight on yellow back to the bridge. We hope you enjoyed this "Very Pink Expedition".
