Just a Duc is located in the Mary Conklin Preserve in Canton, CT. The enterance to the preserve and parking lot is at 144 Indian Hill Rd. Take Rte. 44 to Indian Hill Rd. The entrance is just north of Spaulding Rd. on your left. Be on the lookout for a large red mailbox. This property is the site of the Ray Smith Trail. For this box, you need to follow the yellow blazed trail, which is a loop. You can print a trail map on the Canton Land Trust website, but these trails are pretty well marked. If you want to be safe, print one. There are also other boxes at this site. You may want to print those clues too.

Now onto the clues:

From your car, take the gravel path past the brown log building and onto the footpath. Marker #1 is on your left. Follow the footpath past the bluebird houses and a bench on your left. Soon you will come to marker#4. Next you will see the yellow blazes and the trail either goes left or straight. Stay straight on yellow.

Continue on yellow past many numbered markers until you find marker # 12, a bench on the right in memory of Joel H. Staub and a wooden bridge straight ahead of you. Under the bridge, on the left side, behind a rock is Just a Duc. There is no ink in this box. Please rehide well.

Continue on yellow until you complete the loop. Go right back on the footpath and back to your car.

Hike Length: 1.5 miles
