The Sunflower letterbox is located in the Mary Conklin Preserve in Canton, CT. The entrance to the preserve and parking lot is at 144 Indian Hill Rd. Take Rte. 44 to Indian Hill Rd. The entrance is just north of Spaulding Rd. on your left. Be on the lookout for a large red mailbox. For this letterbox, you need to follow the red dot trail to the intersection of green dot. You can print out a trail map on the Canton Land Trust website, but these trails are pretty well marked. If you want to be safe, print one. You will need markers for this stamp. Yellow, green, and brown will do just fine.

Now onto the clues:

Park your car and head onto the red dot trail on your right. Continue on red, until it intersects with green dot. This is the Tommy Ryan Trail. Follow green downhill, until you come to some mountain laurel on your right. Look for a large moss covered rock on the left. The Sunflower is behind the rock, buried under sticks and leaves. Please rehide well.

At this point you can go back the way you came to the red trail and turn left to get back to your car, or continue on red to the intersection of yellow, left back to your car. You may want to continue on with your hike and do the yellow loop trail. There are lots more boxes planted in this preserve. Happy letterboxing!!!!

Hike Length: 0.5 miles
