This letterbox is box number fifteen of a series of letterboxes placed by Elizabeth Bagdonas and Judy Loether and originally published in the Bolton Common, Bolton, Massachusetts' local newspaper, during the summer of 2000. These boxes are now maintained by a local group of letterboxers and the clues to this series are now being made available to the Internet community.

Part of the inspiration of the original series was to introduce locals
to the wonderful resources of the conservation lands in their area.
Since the original focus for these letterboxes was the local community
several of the clues have "local references", we have made minor
modifications to the original clues to correct for changes that have
taken place in the local conditions but have attempted to preserve the
challenge and creativity found in the original clues. We hope you take up this challenge and use the resources available to you on the Internet and elsewhere to solve the riddles and stamp in.

Clues:

A Walk on the Wild Side

From the end of Randall Road by new road, continue down old dirt road.
On right, pass cart path blocked with stones. Proceed down old road
approximately 350 feet; note a yellow triangular blaze marking the
trail route entrance on the right. The trail leads generally
northwest.

Follow trail, currently marked by orange geodesic blazes. When the
route joins a cart road, turn left, to the west, and continue
following the cart road to a second cart road on the right leading to
the northwest. Take this trail and pass a path branching to the
right. At a bend in the cart road leading up a hill, take the narrow
path to the right and follow through a break in a stone wall. Head
immediately right, to the top of a ledge, where you can look down to a
small bog below. Caution: ledge has a drop-off. You have now
reached the spot where U may find GOLD.

Now turn, observe large crooked oak
That's twisting for the light;
Stand behind it, faced away from
The view once in your sight.
Sight up the hill, to the first rise
Along the tilting wall,
To where the line escapes your eyes;
It seems the stones must fall.
When you have reached this level spot,
You'll see the wall runs still,
Far up along the Wattaquadock,
The wild side of the hill.
A little crooked oak grows near,
And over on the wall,
A long flat capstone sits atop
A crevice dark and small.

Rocklun's notes:

1. We didn't see any orange geodesic blazes.
2. Where the clues say "At a bend in the cart road," there was no bend; in fact, if you come to a noticeable bend, you've gone too far and missed "the narrow path to the right."
