“Sew” Fine at Camp Holston

Holston Presbytery Camp is 152 acres of beautiful woods in the High Country of North Carolina. Within God's beautiful creation, Holston Presbytery (NE Tennessee) offers a perfect setting for outdoor ministry. With Wildcat Lake, hiking trails, cool mountain weather, and the splendor or natural wonders, Holston Camp offers an inspiring outdoor environment.
It is the place for many summer camps and winter ski packages; but the one time I enjoy Camp Holston is at the bi-annual Brushy Mountain Quilters Retreat. Many of the guild members go to Camp Holston in May and October of each year. On one of those trips, I found a nice little niche for a letterbox. So my needle went down and carving tools came out to make a different kind of sewing machine. To find it Take Hwy 321 towards Blowing Rock. Stay on 321 until you come to the Hwy 105 intersection in Boone. Turn left and travel approx. 12 miles to the intersection of 105 and Hwy 184. Turn Right and drive 3.8 miles to Hickory Nut Gap Road. Turn left across the small bridge and you will find time to visit the ducks in the Duck Pond or even bring a picnic lunch to eat on the shore of Wildcat Lake. If that is not your interest for the day, drive 1 mile to the camp entrance on the right. I know you will be welcome at the camp if you would like to visit and see what it has to offer, but you need not go that far. At the entrance is an old-fashioned rain shelter for a bus stop. As you look at the front of that shelter, go over to the left and look under it near the front and find our prize.
Please re-hide well and Have a Happy Day.
