The following letterbox is part of the GO York "Get Outdoors and Be Creative!" program. It will only be available between June 6, 2009 and September 7, 2009. To participate in the program, please pick up your official "Get Outdoors and Be Creative! Sketch Book at any York County library.

In addition, this program uses creativity stations - a wooden marker post with an engraved plate on it - instead of a traditional letterbox. Please make sure to have a crayon with you to carefully rub the picture in your Sketch Book. Further information about the "Get Outdoors and Be Creative!" program may be found at www.goyork.org.

This creativity station is located on the grounds of Indian Steps Museum (Lower Chanceford Township). GO York Kids level of difficulty = 1

1. Leaving the parking lot, head down the path toward the yellow museum.
2. Walk past the small stone structure on your right.
3. Look up and see the outstretched wings of a thunderbird. Circle around and look up to see more mythical Native American symbols.
4. Stand under the turtle and fish and look straight ahead. Can you see the sundial?
5. After checking the ‘time’, make your way to the stone walk in front of the museum. Look out over the Susquehanna River toward the Lancaster County hills. Walk to the bottom of the steps.
6. Look to your left, past the bench and over the end cornerstone, to the large tree across the lawn. Make your way over to see what kind of tree it is.
7. Now cross the bridge to the left of the tree.
8. Make another left at the end of the bridge and walk approximately 40 adult paces to see a 350 year old protected treasure!
9. Facing the marker in front of this tall “treasure”, walk to the right to the 5th post and look for the “treasure” you seek behind you.
10. For a longer adventure, check out the nature trail in the Ulmer-Root-Haines Memorial Park right next door.
