In West Lafayette, Indiana, find the Celery Bog nature center. Park in the lot closest to the nature center. This series is only because we planted it here, they really don't have a common theme just carvings I enjoyed doing.

******UPDATED CLUES**********
Very watery right now-- had to detour off paths just a bit but able to manuever and get back on paths without going to far into the woods. But ya might bring a change of shoes if you plan on going someplace to eat after boxing.

Box #1
From the parking lot locate the trail circle. It has a map of the general area in the center of the circle. take the trail to your left as you look at the map and head into the woods. Stay left as you pass a few trails on the right. Stay left again at a large rock. You can take a pit stop and read how the celery bog isn't really a bog but a swamp. Continue, you guessed it, to the left. You are on the right trail if you see a bench soon. Watch on your left for a cluster of trees -about eleven. If you walk to the south side (180 degrees from path) you'll know you've found the right group if you see a part of a barbed wire fence embedded at waist level(I'm 5'3") and looking up you'll see a chain embedded and hang over head.At this point look into the wood line at 190 degrees you should see a SPOR. Go to that SPOR there are about 4 really big rocks- the big gray on top and the cute little beige rock is where you'll find Eagle Flys.

Box #2
Back to the trail in the headed mostly west, Eventually trail will come out of the woods. Take a sharp right heading back into woods, but stop at the intersection a short trail to your left leads up to the nature center. From the middle of that intersection head 37 paces. There should be a tree just off the path to your left. Heading into the woods off the path you'll have 1 then 2 then1 then 2 then 3 really large trees together. Behing this tree of three is 2 rocks. Here lies dragonquest. Back to the trail. (UPDATE- Jan 3- Dragon quest is resting under rock and was given another rock to keep it company. I think some furry friends were helping to move the boxes.)

Box#3-(is back in new locale!)
Continue on the trail past the water and watch for the tree on your right that appears to be a giant four- pronged fork with the tines in the air and the handle buried half in the ground. (celtic cutie used to be hidden here but a geocache is_VERY close and disappeared. From the first two tines facing the path take a heading of 300 degrees and walk straight ahead to a old rotting stump Celtic cutie is behind this stump. ***Watch for poisen ivy at the front of the stump.***

(Box #4)
Continue on trail and you can sit at the overlook and enjoy the sounds and sights of the bog. If you have binoculars you can usually see interesting birds, too. You'll head right after leaving the overlook. You'll go up a slight hill and curve. Look for the huge fallen, decaying log. At the end you'll find Soldier's Dream. ( Update- Jan 3- As all old soldiers should, it is lying peaceful where placed. May 17th -- the heavy downpours washed out soldiers dream but he was found and is none the worse for wear! :}

A friend of mine has the cutest lil pug named Ali(pronounced Alley). She is deaf but very lively and has had a great deal of fun playing with my Sweet Pea. Since Sweet Pea loves the bog and Ali ---I thought she should go here. Just before exiting the woods and trail (staying on the path)by this point you can even see the Nature center and the T in the trail. Notice a large fallen hickory on your right. There is a rotting hollow stump directly in front of you. Step over the stump and see how the hickory is resting on one it's old limbs? there is a small gap betwee it and the main trunk- there sits Ali!

Hope the updates help! Thanks to some veteran letterboxers who tried to enlighten me :)

Hike Length: 1.5 miles
