When I visit Long Beach in June, I enjoy the sights and smells of the Jacaranda trees in bloom.
Bring a brown marker and the other ink will be provided. (Black or gray will do if you must). If you have not stamped with markers before, you color with the side and then lightly breathe (huff) on the stamp before stamping to remoisten the ink.

Note: there is an arts and crafts fair in this area on Saturday, June 6th, 2009.

GETTING THERE:
Although my family was disappointed that Taco Bell was forced out, the Parkview Village Shops, located NW of Bellflower & Carson, has turned out to be a very quaint little corner of the world. In fact, you may want to plan on making some stops for used books, lunch or ice cream along your walk. From Carson, you can take Green Meadow which turns into Montair at Village. Park in the very back of this area, in the large lot off of Montair (roughly E of Ace Hardware and N of Edward Jones).

CLUES:
From the southernmost end of the parking lot, turn LEFT (ESE) along the concrete wall that has a fence on top to a sidewalk that runs under a large building overhang. Follow the sidewalk towards a metal sculpture of a woman painting.

Continue straight from here, crossing the street and going through a parking lot all the way to Bellflower. You will pass a Parkview Village Shops Parking –> sign.

On the right, pass two children swinging.

Round the corner to the R and pass the kids on the horse.

Pass the boxer, and consider a stop here if it’s a hot day.

Just past the boxer, cross the parking lot driveway and then turn RIGHT onto the sidewalk that runs on the LEFT of that parking lot. Aim for two children who appear to be shooting at each other.
As you get closer, you will pass a ladder climber and then see that the two kids are not shooting at each other; rather one is helping the other across a log.

Take the sidewalk away from the seesaw until you reach a lovely little place to sit down.

Turn LEFT and cross the street, continuing in this direction passing two girls playing in a fountain and then some blue boxes.

After some other boxes, turn RIGHT at the corner.

Cross the next driveway and pass the first streetlight. The path you are on will be bordered by a concrete wall on the right. Pass some yellow posts and notice the nice urban garden. Please take care as you get close because these are someone’s special project! If you know your plants or your spices, you will notice somewhere along the line a sage, a rosemary, and a sage. A very tall plant on the other side of the wall is almost across from the middle rosemary and if you face the street you will be staring at somone’s front door. Facing this middle rosemary, the box is located underneath at about 5:00. Please be careful and do not damage the bush!

Take the box somewhere you won’t be noticed while stamping in. You will be able to find plenty of places to sit and you won’t forget the aromatic place where you found it!
