When You Wish Upon a Somerville Star LbNA #47913 (ARCHIVED)

In the seat of Somerset County lies a historic courthouse. Stand on the steps facing the street. Head 145 degrees about 55 paces until you spy a thirsty bronze lion. In the summer time, feel free to rinse your hands, toss a coin and make a wish. Find the sidewalk at 60 degrees. Take 66 paces and look for a crosswalk. Cross the street and look for five flags clustered around our title shape. In that area, find the crossed guns. Walk past the guns heading east until you find the guardian’s home. (Watch for traffic as you are walking through a parking lot.) Turn left when you find the guardian’s home and walk 75 paces or until you reach a sidewalk. Head east again until you spy a ship. If you reach a bridge, you’ve gone a bridge too far. Cross street at the ship and locate the way that is a mixture of blue and yellow. Follow the way north one full segment. Look across the street and find a tree at 20 degrees with a y-split down near its base. Head 355 degrees from this tree for 47 paces until you find a hollowed-out tree trunk hidden by a small leafy sapling. Look for the letterbox in the trunk’s tunnel.

NOTE: The letterbox was created by a six year old (and her father) with a fascination for spies, hence the somewhat unusual instruction in the box. Make her day and leave a cryptic message.
