Pagosa Springs, Colorado is one of the most beautiful places on earth. D-Girl’s favorite place to go to summer camp, Pagosa is in the southwestern part of Colorado, just below Wolf Creek pass. Pagosa is surrounded by the largest contiguous wilderness area in the United States and the San Juan National Forest. Nestled at an altitude of 7,000 feet, with over 300 days of sunshine.

D-Girl decided to plant a box on the way to summer camp. So she carved a clever stamp and planted it in what she called a chipmunk condo.

BOX CLUES: Hwy 160 runs through town, so no matter which direction you are coming from this is the road you need be on. Head towards the old town area where the hot springs are. There is a “One Way” parking area that needs to be entered from the west end, you will see a small volcano shaped mound bubbling over with steamy water in this parking area. Find a spot to park and get out to enjoy the lovely smell of sulphur. Find the stairs that lead down to the river and go down to the river walk. Take a right at the bottom of the stairs and look along the rock wall, which D-Girl calls the chipmunk condo, for a lone rosebush popping out of the rocks. The box is right behind the rosebush.

Please be very discreet, this can be a busy place. Be aware of all the people watching from above. When you find the box, take advantage of one of the picnic tables to stamp so you don’t draw attention. Do a good job of putting things back the way you found them. Enjoy the beauty of the river, stroll along the river walk, it’s a great relaxing spot.
