The McCann Family Farm has two different loop trails: a 2-mile blue-blazed trail and a 3-mile yellow-blazed trail. The farm sits on Route 190, between South and Gulf roads.

Those visiting the preserve can expect to cross hay fields pass through forests filled with white, red and pitch pines, follow glacial out washes and gaze up the trunks of large oaks and hemlocks. The preserve is dedicated to hiking, bird watching and wildflower tours. More than 300 species of trees, flowers, ferns and other vascular plants have been documented in the preserve. More than 90 species of birds — 11 percent of all species known to occur in North America — have been observed in the preserve, including seven on either the state's endangered, threatened or special concern lists.

After parking follow the blue and yellow plastic blazes over a wet area using boards, logs and eventually a bridge. Pass a welcome sign, more logs and come to a Y intersection with a tree that has many blazes. You’ll be taking the three mile yellow loop. At this first intersection go left with both blue and yellow blazes and enjoy the hike. After walking along the edge of a gully with a stream below (ignore a bridge if you see it below you) you’ll come to a foot bridge. Soon after this you come to a Y where yellow goes left and blue goes right. Follow yellow, seeing a rocky ledge on the left and then a pointy rock on the right. It looks like a gravestone but Gizz went to look and it has nothing written on it. The trail will twist and turn and twist nd turn, eventually going downhill and looking left you might see a rocky "spine" of a ledge. You might see some barb wire along the left of the trail and then you take a U turn and go downhill. Go downhill some more and after the trail levels out look for two round boulders on the left followed by a funky boulder on the right. From this funk site 150 degrees to a three sister tree and look between the tree and the rock on the left.
