This box is located on the Nipmuck Trail in Willington, CT. The trail entrance is on Marsh Road. From Route 44, travel .06 miles down the road to the trail. It is marked by blue blazes. Park on the right and use this entrance, not the entrance on the left side.
Please bring blue and green ink with you for this image.
Start down the trail and walk, walk. You will cross by/over 2 faint old abandoned roads. It is the third more distinct road that you will need to find.
Just before this road you will pass through a section of Beech trees. One Beech has carved initials on it (left side of trail) . Now cross over the old abandoned dirt/grass road and start counting blue blazes. After the 6th blue blaze you will cross over a stream. At the 7th blue blaze you will cross over a wooden bridge. The 9th blue blaze has fallen down and is leaning over the trail. The 10th blue blaze is immediately after the 9th. Stop and look for a large rock in the middle of the trail. Look Left and spot 320 degrees and 33 steps to the largest Maple tree. You will find the creative California letterbox by Don & Gwen behind that tree under a rock and leaves.
Please return the way you came.
