Woodbridge Road
Coventry
(stamp size 2 x 2)
Make your way to Woodbridge Rd in Coventry . It is located off of South Street . Heads up as this is difficult to find !!!!!!!!
You are looking for the CT DEP Fisheries entrance which is between the house and business on this road. You will notice Hunts Christmas Tree Farm on your right . Slow down and drive into the entrance of the tree farm . You will notice a sign for the DEP Skungamaug River Walkway entrance . It is a dirt road .
Right after the entrance sign you will see signs on the left for the Riverwalk. Please park along the right hand side of the dirt road.
Please bring blue ink with you.
Enter the Riverwalk at the first trail sign . You will walk to the river , go right and follow the river . The river will be on your left all the way to the box .
You will pass a nice stone bench on your right and two picnic tables near the river . Along the way you will cross over many plank bridges . You will come to a sign for the Cemetery Brook trail . Follow this trail again with the river on your left .
You will pass over a 4 planked bridge that has another 2 planked section off to it’s right ………do not go over this little section . Stay with the river on your left .
You will eventually come to a stone wall on your right and the trail is now marked blue . Stay on this trail with the river on your left . You will come to a sign on a tree on the right hand side of the trail WHITE WATER . Keep going . Soon you will catch glimpses of a house on the hill on your right . Keep going . We saw a washed up section of what looked like a bridge in the river . Here you will start to walk through a section of overgrown Mt Laurel . Walk to the rock wall directly on the trail . Stop and walk 20 steps up the trail . Look for 2 rocks that create a perfect cave for the incredible Indiana letterbox by Jabber to hide in . There is a Mt Laurel root or branch guarding this cave ( growing across the opening ) .
After stamping in , turn around and enjoy your river walk back to your car .
