The McCann Family Farm has two different loop trails: a 2-mile blue-blazed trail and a 3-mile yellow-blazed trail. The farm sits on Route 190, between South and Gulf roads.
Please bring a solid color ink-brown does a nice job for this one.

Those visiting the preserve can expect to cross hay fields pass through forests filled with white, red and pitch pines, follow glacial out washes and gaze up the trunks of large oaks and hemlocks. The preserve is dedicated to hiking, bird watching and wildflower tours. More than 300 species of trees, flowers, ferns and other vascular plants have been documented in the preserve. More than 90 species of birds — 11 percent of all species known to occur in North America — have been observed in the preserve, including seven on either the state's endangered, threatened or special concern lists.
After parking follow the blue and yellow plastic blazes over a wet area using boards, logs and eventually a bridge. Pass a welcome sign, more logs and come to a Y intersection with a tree that has many blazes. You’ll be taking the two mile blue loop with the box (I believe) at the half way point. At this first intersection go left with both blue and yellow blazes and enjoy the hike, finally coming to a bridge. Soon after crossing this you come to a Y where yellow goes left and blue goes right. Follow the blue going downhill, along the water and then uphill until you come to a spot where the trail takes you over a rocky ledge. Coming off the ledge, look straight ahead (off trail) for a round boulder snuggling with a tree that has a very large hole in the base. Go around the back of this tree and remove the trap door to reveal the pouch that holds the idyllic Iowa letterbox by Maude..
