Bear Swamp Road
Andover
(stamp size 2 x 3)
In Andover find Bear Swamp Rd. You might have been letterboxing here before .Go all the way to the end of Bear Swamp Rd. It is a dead end and ends at Nathan Hale State Forest.
Any solid color will do nicely for this image.
Travel down this road as others did long ago. You will pass a major intersection on the left. Keep going straight. You will come to a "Y" in the road. Go right. Keep going. You will pass a few pines on your left.
Walk until you find rock walls on both sides of the road. STOP. ( if you walk until you find blueberry bushes covered with nets on the right side of the trail …then you have gone too far ) Here you will find yellow boundary lines on the trees. There are also 2 state line metal tags on a Pine Tree on the left side of the trail. Look left in the woods and you will find another rock wall that is intersecting the rock wall that is lining the left side of the trail. Make your way to this intersection.
The very nice New Jersey letterbox by Lock Shock and Barrel waits on the left side of these 2 rock walls in the intersection.

Walk until you find rock walls on both sides of the road. STOP. ( if you walk until you find blueberry bushes covered with nets on the right side of the trail …then you have gone too far ) Here you will find yellow boundary lines on the trees. Long ago this might have been the intersection of two cart paths. There are also 2 state line metal tags on a Pine Tree on the left side of the trail. Look left in the woods and you will find another rock wall that is intersecting the rock wall that is lining the left side of the trail. Make your way to this intersection. AS of October 2011 there is a tiny tree marked with blue tape right next to the area of the hidden letterbox. There is also a boundary pipe sticking out the ground , which also has blue tape on it. The very nice New Jersey letterbox by Lock Shock and Barrel waits at the outside intersection of these 2 rock walls . ( at various points along the wall the wall resembles piles of rocks rather than a rock wall )
