This is the backdoor entrance to the Albert E Moss Sanctuary in Mansfield. It is located on Birchwood Heights. This is a dead end road. You will not be able to see the sign for the Sanctuary when all the leaves and bushes are out as it has long ago fallen to the ground and no one has tacked it back up on the tree. Park on the right side of the road right across from the first house on the left side of this road.
Please bring black ink for the image.
The trees are marked with very faint white blazes. Follow the white trail. Very soon it will turn left. Go left and you will come to a "T". Some of the veteran boxers might remember this section of the trail ……………….
Go left uphill. The white blazes seem to disappear here.
There will be a rock wall on your right. You will come to a "Y". Stay straight and continue uphill. Pass through a stone wall. You will see another "Y" in the trail (you might miss this one) ..Stay straight.
Look for another "Y" in the trail and go right at 0 degrees, due North. Funny thing but the faint white blazes are back on the trees. Cross a stream or wet area. Cross another stone wall.
The trail will make a sharp left near a yellow birch on the left side of the trail. Look for a giant evergreen tree on the right side of the trail. Walk to it and take a reading of 340 degrees to a fallen log about 13 paces away.
You will find the original OHIO letterbox by Safari Man in the "Y" of the fallen log.
