This image can be done two ways. If done in black it appears to be nighttime. If done in black, blue and green it appears to be daytime. It is really wonderful either way.

Just south of the intersection of Routes 195 and 275, turn east on Hanks Hill Rd. Go .03 miles to the entrance of Whetten Woods on the left.

After parking, follow the the yellow blazed trail N and W with a stone wall on your right. Continue on the trail through a break in the stone wall. Follow blazes until you come to a "T". Facing the loop trail sign turn NE 30 degrees and continue to follow blazes.
You will pass a yellow wood arrow on a tree that indicates the trail heads to the left. Continue on following the blazes until you cross a raised wood bridge over a lovely stream. As you continue on, you will come to another yellow wood arrow indicating a left turn. Here the trail turns west and heads slightly uphill. Go a short distance and just before crossing through a stone wall, STOP! Turn to the left and walk along the wall to the corner. Look low in the wall behind a trap door for the wonderful America the Beautiful...Washington D.C. letterbox with a stamp carved by Scarab. Stamp in and carefully reseal and replace the box.
You can either retrace your steps or continue on the loop trail up and downhill, over a second bridge until you get back to the trail on your right that returns to the Hanks Hill Trailhead and parking area.
Thank you for visiting.
There are other letterboxes that may be found in Joshua's Trust Preserves.
