This clue is part of the Urbana Park District’s Wild About Parks Quest--celebrating the Anita Purves Nature Center’s 30th anniversary. The Quest runs 6/13/09-6/12/10, but the boxes will remain in place indefinitely. Prizes can be won during the Quest for those who find 10, 20, and 30 boxes. Those who locate all 30 will be entered into a grand prize drawing. For more information, and for clue booklets, visit www.urbanaparks.org.

AMBUCS Park
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 30 min

This park is often missed as folks drive east along University Avenue toward I74 and Route 130. Once known as Woodland Park it is the first Urbana park with a play place for kids with special needs. Locate this park found adjacent to Urbana’s sewage treatment center. Enter the park and take the drive to the left traveling away from the playground and ball fields. Follow the road as it turns right toward Urbana’s sewage treatment plant. Find the small white building along the road and search for a staircase leading to nowhere. Carefully reach into the small hole located on the ground level stair to find this park’s letterbox.
