In the summer on weekends you have to pay 7.00 to get in the park,but Mon.-Fri.is free and off season is free.

Directions: Off RT.171 in Union CT.turn into Bigelow Hollow State Forest.Travel down 1.1 of a mile to the end of the road and park in the parking area,and go near the bulletin board and enter the trail to the left of the water.Soon you will come to a sign post that reads Mashapaug view take a right here and go over a wooden bridge.Walk straight to a picnic table and a sign that reads no swimming,take a left at the sign and follow the blue & white blazed trail with the water on your right.You will soon walk though a area with lots of picnic tables just keep going with the water on your right,and then the water comes to a point,go around the point still following the trail and still keeping he water on your right.You will cross over a little wooden bridge and keep going and in awhile you will cross over another wooden bridge.Soon you come to a T with a sign reading Mashapaug cove picnic area or Rock Island,you turn right (Rock Island) and come to another wooden bridge cross over and go up a small hill.At the top you come to a Y go (straight/Right) and then take your first right walk all the way down this path avoiding all side trails until you come to a Y in the path,there will be a twin sister oak tree on your left at this Y.Take the path on the right and follow it to the water,you will a big pine tree there at the waters edge,behind this pine and under some wood and a flat rock is the Maine Letterbox. Please rehide well,this is a very busy area in the summer.The NeeDeeps
