~~~~~~~ A LETTERBOXER SAW 2 KIDS GO DIGGING THROUGH AND FOUND THE BOX AND THEY TOOK OFF WITH IT.. SORRY! ~~~~~~~~
Hiker’s Falls - Horsetooth Mountain Falls
Price: Requires a parking pass $7.00 per day or $65.00 year pass
Pets: Dogs on leashes are allowed. Horses and bikes are allowed at the mountain but for this particular hike you’ll be using the foot-use only trail. Deer and foxes are often spotted and keep their distance but are beautiful non the less.
Difficulty: I’d rate it a 3 out of 5 for difficulty due to the rocky hike. We see children make this hike all the time.
Directions From Park Entrance: Once parked, you’ll see a big wooden bulletin board with maps and information. Stand facing the board so the bathrooms are on the left and you’ll see a path to your left and right. Take the path on the right, it is a foot only path. Follow the path until you come to a split in the road marked by a metal post. Take the path on the right and follow it all the way. It is full of ups and downs and twists and turns but a beautiful hike non the less. You’ll pass a bench at marker 3, continue on and pass over a wooden platform. Stay on the main path and you’ll come to the Falls. Sitting on the wooden bench, if you look to your right you’ll see a large root that acts as a divider of the ground. Cross over and you’ll see a mini cave out of rocks. The letter box is within arms reach covered by some leaves and pine needles. I’m 5'10" and can reach it just fine but someone shorter may need to step up a little. Please do this discreetly and hide it as you found. Please make sure it is covered so that non-letterboxers don’t find it and so it doesn’t get removed by the Park and Rec crews.
Thank-you and hope you enjoy the hike!
