Just A Walk In The Woods Pomfret CT. Rating Easy 1 Mile Of Flat Walking 2 Boxes
Placed By The NeeDeeps 7-18-03

(Don't forget the clues for Snow White...same trail).

Directions:Off of RT.44 in Pomfret turn onto RT.97 North and travel 0.5 of a mile and take a left onto Taft Pond RD.(The sign is hard to see). Then go 0.1 of a mile and turn left onto Dennis RD.(This will be a dead end).Drive all the way to the end and park in front of a grassy dirt mound.(Do not park or block driveway on the left).Walk over the grassy mound and start down the trail(This is a Nature Preserve) keep walking down and you will have stonewalls on both sides of you (This was once all farm land so you will notice lots of stonewalls along the way).Keep going until you notice a field on the left side of you,and you will soon see a big tree with a hole and a crack in it just a little ways after the field starts on the left by the wall, inside the hole under a couple pieces of sticks is your first letterbox. Now continue on and you will start going down a slight hill and shortly after the field there will be a trail on the left going into the woods, you will see a yellow ribbon on a tree and a yellow sign, go through the stonewall and enter the woods. You will walk a short distance along a wire fence, then the trail goes to the right away from the field.Soon you will start to see yellow blazes on the trees, follow the white and cross through a stonewall, keep going and you will cross over a small stream. You will see some yellow ribbons tied to some trees to help you find the trail through here plus yellow blazes, soon you will pass through another stonewall with a big tree on the left that looks like two sisters holding hands.Soon you will cross through another stone wall plus be walking with a wall on your left. When you come away from this wall the trail gets alot better. You will pass through yet another stone wall with a yellow sign pointing the way,so go to the right and follow a much wider trail until you pass through another stone wall. Now keep going a little ways more until the trail turns hard to the left (STOP) on your left is a stonewall that ends at the trail, walk on the North side of the wall 6 steps and there low in the wall behind a stone door is letterbox #2.Go back to your car the same way you came in.Happy Trails The NeeDeeps
