Clues:

Who among us does not have some sort of experience with homemade pie? And I have to believe the source of that experience was Mom, who always knew how to put that extra something into a pie to make it taste so very good.

With that image in mind, let’s take a walk in a pleasant rural setting and find some of Mom’s Homemade Pie. Once you find the park mentioned above, start at the map board near the parking lot. Can you even now start smelling the pastry? If so, make your way along the tree line and past a pump and enter the woods. Cut through a corner of a place where pie would be an extra treat in a wicker picnic basket and continue along the trail. At the Y, slice to the left, then, later, slice to the right. Keep heading into the woods and take the LONG way. Keep an eye out on the right for views of the lake, depending on the density of foliage. At the intersection, maintain on the straight and true. Mom would like that.

Eventually you will come to another choice. To find some yummy pie, take the HIGH leg. At this point you may want to make a slight detour to check out “What Cake?” another premiere from Michigan. If you so choose, remember to return to this spot.

Follow the scent to a “T” and head right. You will pass three signs on your left. Watch for the seven sister tree on the left, which is before the fourth sign on the leeward side. There, nestled in the center, you will find Mom’s Homemade Pie, cooling for your enjoyment.

To loop out to the parking lot, continue forward, crossing a gravel road. Eventually you will come to a “T”. Take a left, passing a bench and re-enter the woods. Curve right, and then take the next left at the “Y”. You will find yourself in familiar territory for finding your car.

Since we don’t live in the area, status reports would be greatly appreciated!
