Johnson Park, Maple Bluff
Gazebo Quest

As you enter Maple Bluff through its main entrance at Lakewood Boulevard, Johnson Park is on your left. Johnson Park is where Lakewood School once stood. Lakewood School was an elementary school building that served Maple Bluff. Because Maple Bluff did not have its own Junior High and High School, Maple Bluff was eventually forced to join the Madison Metropolitan School District. The building that was on this site was finally demolished. Johnson Park now hosts many of the festivities enjoyed by Maple Bluff residents and others in the surrounding neighborhoods. Stroll through the park any day and you might enjoy a swing on the swings, a soccer game on the soccer fields or even a game of frisbee golf making use of the frisbee golf baskets made by a former Village President. If you find yourself enjoying the park at 4:00 any evening, you might see Tip and others enjoying a little off-leash play.

After enjoying some time at the park, begin at the gazebo, where many a cake-walk has been played. Take a short walk toward Sherman Avenue to the stone retaining wall. You'll find the treasure you seek on the inside of the curve against the stone wall behind the branches of the sturdy shrub. Enjoy the hunt!
