THIS BOX HAS BEEN REPLANTED AS OF APRIL 25,2004 AND THE CLUES REVISED. HAVE FUN!

I placed this box in memory of my sister, she really would have enjoyed letterboxing!

Directions: From the intersection of Routes 169, 44 and 97 (at the Vanilla Bean) you want to head west on Route 44. You will pass the Pomfret School and head down a good size hill. At the bottom of the hill on your right there is a cemetery. It has two entrances, either one works.

From the other direction, where Routes 44 and 169 meet head east. You will immediately come to a sharp corner and the road will curve to the right. Just after the Post Office on the left and the Audubon building on the right you will see the cemetery on your left.

Clues: Park anywhere off the dirt road in the cemetery. From where you are look around, towards the road if you're in the back, you will see a large pine tree standing alone. Walk over to it. Look on the north side of the tree for a stone for Mrs. Anna Sabin, it is very old and fairly close to the tree. Stand at the stone and take a reading of 300*.

Walk approximately 100ft. to a newer stone for Andrew Gastafson. Stand on the north side of the stone and take another reading of 350* and go another 100ft. up a slight hill.

You will come to where there is a row of stones facing west. The 3rd very old stone says Ethan Allin. Face this stone and look to your left, about 40ft. away is a monument shaped like a cylinderon end with the top broken off. Go to it.

Take a reading of 40* and walk in this direction to the next upright stone. The 3rd name down is George Wilcox.

Take a reading of 114*, head that way and just before you reach the road the largest stone you come to has the name Emily Grosvenor, the 2nd one down.

Now you want to go to the gravel road and walk up the road to your left. A short distance up you will see what looks like a little used roadway on your left between the stones. After this roadway the first stone you see has the name Sirrine on it, the 2nd one is for Carlson/Lawrence. On the back is the name Gabriel Carlson.

At this stone take a reading of 286* and walk approx. 140 feet to a stone with HARPER on it. Facing the stone look about 3 feet to the right in the top of the wall and you will find Miss Molly.

When I was trying to figure out how to do clues for this box I thought maybe the tree would be a good starting place. When I went down there to look around I found the stone for Anna Sabin. It was perfect, my name is Anna! As I looked around at the other stones, I picked the ones I did for this reason. Andrew is Molly's husbands name. Ethan her oldest child, George is for Jacob George ( could not find Jacob anywhere), Emily her daughter and Gabriel her youngest. Just watch for poison ivy!
