These letterboxes were made by ~KingSpike~. Please be discreet with hiding the letterboxes in their original spot. Feel free to put bark, branches, rocks, leaves, ect. on top of the letterbox to keep it hidden from non-searchers. A note from our finders: Beware of muggles! Open April 1st - October 31st. Thank you for your time and have fun searching!

Starting point: Park in the Washington Park Senior Center parking lot. Enter from Washington Blvd. or Vliet St.

Time: approximately 1 hour.
Terrain: mostly paved paths.

*1* The Prisoner of Azkaban: Walk up the paved path starting at the North East corner of the Senior Center. Traveling west take the right fork in the road. Then take the next right. Stop at the first lamppost on your right and have the Night Bus pick you up (not literally). Turn about 60 degrees to your right. Take 50 small paces towards the largest tree in the field. Stop and wait to be sure the Whomping Willow (well it’s not really a willow) will not attack you. Proceed to the base of the tree. Walk around to the east side of the tree. Look for an opening in the tree. That is the entrance to the Shrieking Shack. Stick your hand in, but be wary, a werewolf may bite your hand off. As soon as you’re done put the letterbox back where you found it and put some bark on top of the entrance to the Shrieking Shack, so that Snape and other students do not find it.
Note: We are placing the first three books in reverse order because the perfect hiding places for those letterboxes were found before we could find a place for the Sorcerer’s Stone. We will get back to the correct order of books starting with the fourth letterbox.

*2* The Chamber of Secrets: Return to the paved path (continue north) and follow it across the road. Turn left at the first fork in the path. Follow that path to the second lamppost where the Night Bus drops you off. Turn left and follow that path to Salazar Slytherin’s Chamber of Secrets (it’s really the monument of Goethe and Schiller, but it sort of looks like the Chamber of Secrets). Be wary as you approach the chamber because the Basilisk may emerge at any time. On the left side of the chamber in the bushes you will find a stone cube with a shield on it (Salazar Slitheren’s personal crest). Inside that cube lies the Basilisk. Carefully dig under the bones of the Basilisk’s meals (dead leaves) at the back corner of the stone cube closest to the monument. Take out Riddle’s diary and “sink” your pen/stamp into it. Hide the diary again, so it cannot be found. Walk away carefully because if the Basilisk emerges it will be fatal to you and your group. Save Ginny on your way out.

*3* The Sorcerers Stone: Return to the paved path and continue west on the path. Take the right fork down the hill. Continue right around the back of the Band Shell to the east corner. Take the left fork at the lamppost and take the next left fork. Proceed around to the pond. Stare into the Mirror of Erised (murky water) and see your self receiving the stone. Walk to where the tree/brush line starts to your right. Take four large paces forward to avoid Quirrel and Voldemort. Enter the trees and brush and look for a large stone just up from a large stump. Uplift the stone, receive what you searched for, and quickly escape from the maze of enchantments.

*4* The Goblet of Fire: Take the brick path (by the mirror) west along the pond. Continue west onto the paved path starting at the large willow. Turn right before the second lamppost on your left. At the next lamp post that you can see on your right stop. Turn 70 degrees to your right. Walk over to the water. Listen carefully to the Merpeople’s song. They will tell you what happened during the second Triwizard challenge. If two contestants from the second challenge used the bubble-head charm, walk over to the large pine tree diagonal from you. Walk to the west side and push aside the branches. Look under the pile of pinecones. If you were correct you receive your prize. If Victor Krum turned into a squid in the second challenge turn around 180 degrees and walk to the tree close to the path with a hole in it. Reach inside the hole going up the tree. If you were correct you will receive your prize. Note: Only one answer is correct. If you are wrong you may choose the other answer and find your prize.

*5* The Order of the Phoenix: Return to the path and continue right around the pond in a half circle until you see a building on your left before the bridge. That building is Sirius Black’s house and the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix (the Urban Ecology Center). Continue straight across the first bridge. On your right you will see a fenced off planting area. At the south end of the area you will find two clusters of trees. Stop at the second cluster of trees forming a “V” shape. You will find a dirt path along the water’s edge. Take the path through the branches to the Black family tree (a huge willow). Walk over to the south/water side of the Black family tree. You will find a hole that goes deep into the tree. Reach your hand inside (this tree won’t bite). Grab the prophecy (the letterbox) and get rid of it (put it back) before Voldemort can get his hands on it.

*6* The Half-Blood Prince: Return to the path and go south across the second bridge. Stay left and cross another path. Continue up the hill. Go left before the Band Shell seats. Go left again at the top of the hill. Continue straight across the street. Go right at the second lamppost. Go around the left side of the playground. Walk through the grass to the tree line. Turn left and follow the grassy trail. On your left you will see a group of four large trees. Take the boat across the lake (walk through the sea of tall grass). Stop at the largest tree. Wipe your blood (hand) on the “gateway” (the large tree). Walk over to the tree on the left of the big tree. Bend down and drink the potion that will allow you to take the horcrux. At the third tree find a “keyhole” at the base. Reach in and take the locket. Use it as you will. As you return to the path watch out, the Inferi will awaken once they notice that the locket is gone and you are not Voldemort.

*7* The Deathly Hallows: Return to the grass path. Continue straight until the grass path merges with the paved path. Turn right onto the paved path and continue until you find a tree in the middle of the path surrounded by a triangle of grass. That triangle signifies the Deathly Hallows. Go west and walk through the grass towards the fence. You will hear the sound of Death Eaters and the Order fighting (it’s only traffic). Go south and walk down the dirt path. Near the end of the dirt path look for the last pine tree with three huge branches sticking out of the base. Turn east to face the tree. Walk into the brush to the south east side of the tree. You will see three “tentacles”; between them is where you should look. Dig under the pile of pine needles between the “tentacles”. You will notice two of the Deathly Hallows. The stick signifies the Elder Wand which is the most powerful wand. The rock signifies the reviving stone which can bring back a spirit form of the dead. The cloak is not there because Harry has it.

Thank you for participating in the Harry Potter Letterbox search. Feel free to tell me about your experience. Please tell your friends about this because we like many searchers on the trail.
