Sawtooth Lodge is a historic lodge that first opened for business in 1927. It is located 27 miles east of Lowman, on the edge of Idaho's Sawtooth Wilderness Area. The last six miles to Grandjean is on a narrow forest service road that gets quite a bit of traffic in the summer.

Sawtooth Lodge is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and has a very friendly staff. They have a natural warm water swimming pool, cabins that can be rented, and space for tents and trailers. The lodge serves meals from approximately 8am to 6pm and also has a few flavors of ice cream and yummy milk shakes.

The front room of Sawtooth Lodge holds two small bookshelves -- the "Grandjean Library". On one of the shelves, you will find a thin, hard-cover book with a green spine that should be of particular interest to letterboxers.

While you're parked at the lodge, you may also want to hike to the Grandjean Falls letterbox.
