At the dedication of the Lady Bird Johnson Grove in Redwood National Park numerous dignitaries were present and/or took part in the ceremonies August 27, 1969. Billy Graham, influential evangelist and spiritual advisor to multiple presidents, including then sitting president, Richard Nixon, was in attendance. Because he seems to be a man filled with fire and brimstone this letterbox has been entitled The Fires of Hell.

To find this letterbox drive to the beautiful Lady Bird Johnson Grove just north of Orick on Hwy. 101. Walk the lovely trail and finally stand at trail marker #9. Look ahead down the trail and slightly to the left to note a redwood tree charred with a long black stripe. Go to that tree. About 2 1/2 feet up and on the right is a crevice in that tree. Your job will be to find the letterbox, stamp in and rehide securely.

Thanks for coming and rehide carefully!
