12/28/2020 - Some reliable attempts seem to reveal that both of these have gone missing! I intend to replace them eventually but in the meantime, come enjoy the park that was an integral part of my childhood!

Your journey begins at Wilderness Park on Sepulveda Blvd, at the border of Torrance and Redondo Beach, hidden in urban city.
Bring gloves when you search for these boxes because there is a lot of dirt where the boxes are hidden. I recommend going earlier in the day because the park closes at 4:30. Park is also closed on Wednesdays. Box #1 contains a handcarved stamp, and Box #2 contains a handcarved stamp, and a store bought bonus stamp.

Here are your clues.

BOX #1- City View- Alive and well as of 7/1/2011- With new stamp.

Enter the park through the big iron gates. Once at the big map sign, turn left on the path with the duck pond #1 on your right. Pass through the picnic area until you are at a hill. Go around the left side of the hill. When you see the back fence facing the ocean (parking lot on your left), you will see some plants on the fence to the right of the pine tree closest to the parking lot. Under the plants about ten feet from the pine tree, under leaves, against the fence, behind the small base of a bush, the letterbox is hidden.

When you are done, make sure you put the box back EXACTLY where you found it, hidden from view.

Now return to the entrance to find Box #2.

BOX #2- Turtle Pond- Alive and well as of 7/1/2011- With new stamp.

From the entrance, go around duck pond #1 to the stone ampitheatre. Go down the steps to the bottom. There is a trail at the bottom of the ampitheatre, go down it until you reach the stream. With the stream on your left, follow it until you reach duck pond #2. Walk toward tule grass. With the tule on your left make a right to a hidden trail. Go left toward the corner near the fence. Pass fallen logs. Locate a crooked stump leaning on a small log on your left. There is a space under the stump, covered with a loose piece of bark. The letterbox is in that space, covered with leaves.

When you are done, make sure you put the box back EXACTLY where you found it, cover it with leaves, and put the bark over the space.

I used to always come to this park and there are many other things to do like feed ducks, turtles, and fish in both ponds. Or walk on the small trails and have a picnic lunch.
