This property was originally purchased by a man named William Whitney Stow back in 1871. Today, the 22-acre lake and surrounding 136 acres is a nature preserve home to diverse plant communities or habitats. Eucalyptus, oak, and pine tree stands, open grassland savannah and rolling meadows provide habitat to many different birds, small mammals, reptiles and insects. The locals know it as LLC, and it is here that you will find your prize.

From the 101 exit on Los Carneros in Goleta, which is about 10 miles west of Santa Barbara. At the top of the ramp, turn towards the mountains. When you reach the stop sign at Calle Real, turn right and then make a left on La Patera Lane. Go about 0.2 miles and park on the side of the road. Enter this preserve at the white gate – you will see three red reflectors and a no parking sign on the gate. Go straight on the paved road until you see the City of Goleta sign. Look to your left and you should see a large oak tree. It is at the base of this tree where you will find Edward’s love – don’t worry, she doesn’t sparkle in the sunlight.

This area is very popular with the locals – especially dog walkers. Please be discreet and cover her back up when you are done. Please make sure you cannot see any of the bag she is hidden in before you leave. Have a fun time!
