If you are headed for Wimberley Texas, then you must also visit the Emily Ann Theatre. Leaving Wimberley on Ranch Road 2325 you will pass the Wimberley High School on your left. Immediately after the school there is a sign indicating the Emily Ann Theatre. Turn in and follow the drive to the right. As long as a play is not in progress you may park at the entrance to the grounds. Walk up the path past the outdoor theatre (noticing the ornate wrought iron gate) and continue up hill along side the Puppet’s Post and the Betrothal Tree. At the top of the hill stands the Memorial Flag Pole. Names on the bricks honor Wimberley High School students who died while in school. In December the pole becomes the trunk for a tree of lights.
Turn East and you are looking at Old Baldy, also known as Prayer Mountain. You can see concrete steps that lead to the top of the mountain. Turn Northwest and you see Old Baldy’s Twin Sister. Walk toward the twin about 50 yards and there are three benches made of local stone slabs. Continue in the same direction to an Oak tree. From the base of the tree walk downhill about 20 feet. Half way between the tree and a barbed wire fence is a stump and some stones. There you will find the Emily Ann Letterbox. Please replace stones to hide the box. Be sure to check the Emily Ann web site to learn about Emily Ann and why the theatre bears her name. www.emilyann.org
