Sammie’s Hunt
Placed by CBear and Firephly

Sammie is my sister new puppy, today was her 3rd letterboxing excursion. While trying to find the “Big Spring Letterbox” Sammie was running wild following every scent and jumping from rock to rock. Sammie found one spot quite interesting so my sister and I went back to the car to fetch a letterbox to place there. The first finder will find a little treat for their puppy.

*Start in Stowe,VT

*Head North on RT 108 to Spruce Peak

*About 1.5 miles past Spruce Peak is a dirt parking lot on the Right just past a very large boulder

*Park there and have a good look around this is where the “Big Spring Box” is

*While standing in the parking lot, look across the road to find a brown sign in the woods marking the start of a trail

*Very carefully cross this road (cars and bikes travel may travel very fast

*Stand at the brown trail sign

*From the brown sign walk 17 steps to a large dead tree with its root system on the left side of the trail

*Now take 25 steps to a tree with roots growing onto the trail that are partially covered with moss

*From the moss covered roots take 35 steps to a tree with a “Hell Brook Trail” sign

*Stand on the small flat rock at the base with you back facing the tree

*Look for a large tree with one side covered with mushrooms

*Half way between you and the tree will be 2 medium sized rocks about 2-3 feet apart from each other

*Under the rock on your right is where you will find what Sammie was hunting for

*The “Sammie’s Hunt Box” is hidden by small slabs of rock under the small “ledge” that faces the other medium sized rock

*Please be sure to return the box to the same spot and keep it hidden!
