New box and logbook

This letterbox was originally placed by Don and Pat in 2003. I adopted it on April 20, 2012. It had been missing for many years and I have now replaced it.

Directions: On US Highway 89A east of Jacob Lake, just east of mile marker 577, park in trailhead parking area on south side of the highway (there is a log fence around the parking area). This is at an elevation of 7,475 ft., so expect some snow here during the winter.

From the Arizona Trail (AT) Information Board head south to end of fence on left side, turn north on AT and cross Highway 89A (carefully). Follow the Kaibab Plateau Trail #101 towards Sinkhole (not FR 247). Go through gate and past fenced area on left. At next AT sign continue through 2 tall Ponderosa Trees (June 2023 - 2 large stumps). The trail turns left and begins to head uphill. At that AT sign walk uphill about 63 steps to a moderate-size Ponderosa Pine Tree on the left side of the trail (approx. 3 ft. from trail). Walk about 14 steps at about 300 degrees (from mag. north) to a double-trunked stump. The box is behind the right stump covered with a flat rock and plant debris.

Please double bag the contents and rehide the box under the rock and cover it with plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.
