When I was little, my family would go to "Pirate Island" to look for burried treasure and take a swim on the sandbar. I still call it Pirate Island, but my mom calls it Joe's Island. What the real name is, I'm not sure. There are eagles that live on the lake and you can often find them in the tall tree on this island. They are the inspiration for this box.

Pirate Island is a small island in the east section of Lake Minoqua, just east of Fischer's Island, to the west of Stack's Bay. There are a few buoys around the island. To get there you will need a boat. (Or you can walk there on the ice during the winter!) Once you find the island, you can park/pull your boat onto the sandbar. If you are in a row boat or canoe you can pull up onto the shore of the island.

After leaving your boat, walk to where the pirates would roast their marshmallows. Head toward the small fork in the path and take the one on the right. Very soon after the fork, turn onto the path towards the water on the right. There is a small fallen log across the path. Your treasure is hidden on the back side of the log into the trees on the right. Once you find your tresaure, rehide it well.
